Common causes include autoimmune diseases, pregnancy complications, coronary heart disease, diabetes, alcohol and drug use, heart attack, high blood pressure, and thyroid problems. To reduce the risk, it's essential to avoid alcohol, manage high blood pressure, maintain a healthy lifestyle, control weight, and promptly treat conditions like thyroid issues.

In the early stages of dilated cardiomyopathy, symptoms may be absent, but they gradually worsen over time. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, fatigue, chest pain, heart murmur, swollen legs, ankles, and belly, fainting, cough, and irregular heartbeat. If left untreated, dilated cardiomyopathy can lead to stroke, pregnancy complications, heart valve issues, and sudden cardiac arrest, posing significant risks to life.

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) can be triggered by various factors, including Infections like HIV and Lyme disease, Autoimmune diseases such as polymyositis, Substance abuse, including alcohol and cocaine, exposure to heavy metals, and certain chemotherapy drugs, Thyroid disorders, Diabetes, Hypertension.
